What the heck are eMags?
I'm certain many of you may be scratching your heads over the "eMags Magazette" moniker above.
Well, the "eMags" name is my choice for "electronic magazines." I know some may prefer "e-zines" or "maglets" (eek!) but I'll stand by my eMags tag because it is self-explanatory, without the hyphen.
What the heck is a Magazette?
Now this name needs a bit more of an explanation.
It all started back in 1973 when I was producing my first weekly newspapers and wanted to add a small tabloid insert in each about the "good old days." I called it Yesterday's and it immediately became a hit with readers.
However, as it was printed on newsprint and did contain some news items, many mistakenly called it "a little paper."
So I came up with the name Yesterday's Magazette to show readers that my "magazette" was both a magazine and a gazette (or newspaper.)
Today, the name "gazette" is a bit old-fashioned. But I like it, being more than a bit old-fashioned myself. So I've kept it for nearly 40 years for Yesterday's and recently added it to my other Emags and websites.
(* By the way, each magazette is part of the E. P. Burke Publishing group that is geared toward a family audience.)
